Auto Insurance Rate
Having a teenage driver in the family can drastically affect
the auto insurance rate of your family.
Insurance companies consider teens that are below 25 as
high-risk drivers and their insurance rates can be 50 to 100%
higher that that of people over 25. Having a new car with all
the latest bells and whistles will not help when looking for a
cheap auto insurance rate for your teen.
Age and gender have a lot of pull when it comes to getting a
low auto insurance rate. A young male will have higher auto
insurance rates than an older female. Most insurance companies
believe males are more aggressive and be more prone to
accidents and speeding. Statistics back this up. Yet,
additionally, some companies charge more for an auto insurance
rate for a divorced female, fearing that after the divorce she
may be aggressive behind the wheel.
Driving courses can greatly affect an auto insurance rate.
Have your teens, that are planning to become driver, take a
course in driver’s education at thier school. This will bring
your auto insurance rate down when they are added to the
coverage plan. Also if you have been caught speeding and lost
points you can go to a local college and take a drivers course
and redeem the points you lost.
Where you live can also make a difference in your auto
insurance rate. If you live in a big city where you are more
prone to an accident your auto insurance rate will be higher
than someone that lives in a small town with less traffic.
You may also be able to get your teen a cheaper auto
insurance rate by increasing the amount of deductible that you
are willing to pay if the teen is involved in an auto accident.
A policy that has a deductible for $1,000.00 or $1,500.00 will
be cheaper than a policy that has $250.00 deductible.
Some auto insurance policies come with features that are
good to have, yet may never be used, like roadside assistance.
Make sure you read the entire policy, even all the fine print,
so you know exactly what you are getting. Shop around before
you purchase or renew any auto insurance policy.
When you are getting up in age and you are over 60, auto
insurance companies begin to look at you as high risk drivers
as well. Not because of speed but because seniors are more
prone to an accident as their reflexes slow down. For this
reason seniors pay higher auto insurance rates than people that
are 25 to 60. Because of this many seniors are forced to give
up driving and rely on someone else to take then the places
they need to go.
Decide what it is you need in an auto insurance policy. Do
you have multiple drivers and cars? How old are the drivers
that will be listed on this policy? Consider everything when it
comes to getting a cheaper auto insurance rate
and you and your family of drivers will be covered without
breaking the bank.
