Auto insurance FAQs
As you start your search for insurance for your vehicle you
need to look for the auto insurance FAQ. There are so many
technical terms that many people outside the insurance industry
wouldn’t understand and know about.
If you are taking out your first insurance policy then you
might be wondering about many of the questions you are being
asked, and how to reply to them.
- Your driving history. If you have a clean driving
record then you will see that the insurance premiums are
lower.
- Your age, gender and marital status. These are self
explanatory, but your age will make a difference to your
premium. Also you gender as some insurance companies favor
women drivers.
- How many miles you drive a year and the location of
your driving. This is important as different States or areas
within a State could be a higher risk. Also the more miles you
drive, the higher the premium. This is because the more miles
you are in the car, the higher the possibility of an
accident.
- The make and model of the vehicle. This again will
affect the premium you have to pay. Some makes and model of
cars are a target for thieves. Others will cost a higher amount
to repair them should they be involved in an accident.
- The amount of insurance. The move cover you apply
for the higher the premium you will need to pay.
But there are other factors which should be taken into
consideration when looking for auto insurance. You will have
many questions which you need to get answers from each company
you want a quote from.
- Are there any ways in which I can lower my insurance
premium?
- Do you give a discount, and if you do how can I get
one?
- Will my insurance premium increase if I have an
accident, even if it isn’t my fault?
- Will my insurance increase if I get a ticket or
fine?
- What happens if I drive more miles than I put on the
insurance form?
- Can I use my insurance to drive a rental
vehicle?
- Can other people drive my vehicle and be covered by
my insurance policy?
- What should I do if I am involved in an
accident?
- What type of insurance should I have for a very old
car which is not worth a lot of money?
- What if I move to another State for work, do I need
to do anything to change my insurance policy?
- What happens if the vehicle I am leasing is
stolen?
- If I change my vehicle for a new car will I need to
take out a policy before driving off the lot?
- Our child is going to be studying in a different
State and taking their car with them, what do we do about their
insurance?
These are some of the auto insurance FAQs you might need to
look at when considering the type of insurance you need for
your motor vehicle.
